North Cork Dementia Alliance Branding

North Cork Dementia Alliance

The North Cork Dementia Alliance is based in the Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre here is Mallow, North Cork.

This is a community based dementia project, led by the Health Service Executive North Cork Occupational Therapy Service. The project offers support to those diagnosed with dementia and support for families of people with dementia while raising awareness in the community.

Sixmile Design was tasked with branding the overall project. This consisted of the logo, website design and development, calendars, pull-up exhibition stands, leaflets and posters. The website is built with WordPress (this is a Content Management System) which means the client can update the website herself. The website is also responsive so is optimised which means it looks good on all viewing devices whether desktop PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

The website now contains photos taken from actual events as opposed to stock photography. The photography taken at the events gives a true flavour of the organisation and helps give the website a unique feel.

Client Testimonial

I cannot recommend Sixmile Design enough. We have worked with them for nearly ten years and they designed our logo, website, posters, flyers and pull ups stands. Nigel also did the illustrations for our Childrens Book ‘Feathers in my Brain’. Nigel responds really quickly and works with you until you’re 100% happy with the finished product.

Feathers in My Brain Childrens Book

Feathers in My Brain is a children’s book written by North Cork Dementia Alliance. The book focuses on a Aoife’s relationship with her grandmother who has dementia.

I was comissioned to do the illustrations for the book. These illustrations were inspired by the story of Aoife and her relationship with her grandmother. Aoife and her granny have always been the best of friends. When granny develops dementia there are some changes and adjustments Aoife and her family go through which the book explores. The book sensitively addresses how a diagnosis of dementia can be felt by the family  and how inclusion and openess can help evryone involved.

The illustrations were done in pen and ink with watercolour washes for the colouring. The illustrations compliment the story as Aoife discovers what’s it like to have a granny with dementia.

Brand Consistency

Maintaining brand consistency is crucial because it helps to reinforce the brand identity, build trust with the audience, and create a more memorable and recognizable brand presence.

The logo, imagery, photgraphy and corporate colours help reinforce the brand consistency helping reinforce the message. This includes the use of primary and secondary colors across different materials.

Consistency in marketing materials is not a one-time effort but an ongoing process. Consistency in this aspect helps in reinforcing the brand’s identity and building a sense of authenticity.

For the North Cork Dementia Alliance campaign, the calendar design played a crucial role in extending the organization’s brand message while raising awareness about dementia care.

The calendar successfully blended visual appeal with meaningful content, ensuring that each month conveyed important information about dementia support services and helpful tips for caregivers.

The layout design was central to its aesthetic, with the use of soft, calming colors that reflected the alliance’s compassionate approach. Carefully selected images, typography, and layout harmonized to create a visually engaging calendar that aligned with the organization’s core values, fostering a sense of community and care.

The calendar not only served a functional purpose but also acted as a key branding piece that strengthened the identity of the North Cork Dementia Alliance. Through the strategic use of the alliance’s logo, consistent color palette, and clear messaging, the design created a cohesive visual experience.
